It’s been a big year for blue dialled sports watches but Vacheron has really made waves with the new Overseas Perpetual Calendar in full pink gold (including the bracelet). Full gold sports watches are the ultimate in luxury, as they have rugged cases that give a keen wrist presence with the fantastic weight of gold.

The perpetual calendar model is absolutely a looker but because of the pushers on the side for the calendar mechanism you lose the water resistance of the lower-tier models.

Want to keep the 150m water resistance, or a simpler aesthetic? Enter the new full gold bracelet Overseas 4500V/110R0B705…

FIRST IMPRESSIONS & PRICING

Obviously my first impressions are that it’s a stunning watch, and it really gives that full luxury punch and presence without the price tag or complexity of the full perpetual calendar model. The finishing is amazing as always but above all the combination of the blue dial and pink gold absolutely sings. I’m really looking forward to trying this watch on in person at the boutique.

The new watch comes with the gold bracelet, rubber strap and leather strap in the box as the usual complete set. The price is set at £44,800 – which is obviously a decent chunk of change, as we say. However it’s worth pointing out that the new Rolex Submariner Date 2020 is £7,300 and the new white gold version being £31,850 – a difference (or “gold tax”) of £24,550. With the Vacheron the delta between the steel and gold models is actually very similar – £25,800 difference – so it’s pleasing to know that the jump from steel to gold is somewhat in keeping with other manufacturers out there and it could be argued that it’s largely based on gold weight multiplied by some similar factor.
